The power of networking
Damjan Obal - freelancer
OK, I'm gonna be short and sweet and return back later.
In short: Born in 1983, just finishing my Media Communication studies and writing my diploma on Generation C, Connected Age and Mobile as 7th Mass Media. Otherwise, a youth trainer for many years and a scout instructor and mentor for other leaders.
Work Experience:
- 2 years chief editor of a Computer/Youth magazzine.
- 10 months in a advertising agency as a creative designer and a copy.
- This February (2008) I quit because I felt I was not growing and I wanted to get involved in more interesting projects. That's why I started my own brand (www.blok54.si) and have formed a group of talented creatives with whom we work especially on corporate identities and branding.
- At the same time, I work for the Mamut.si on-line magazine as a guest writer and take care of the community and on-line promotion.
And Social Networking?:
Because I don't like a desk job and I like to work with people and socialize I find building and maintaining networks one of the most exciting jobs. I started with some small networks, now I'm building a community around the magazine. Further more, I would like to build social networks in developing countries such as Sudan in Africa. That's why I want to study the cell phone platform and bring the SNS platforms on to the mobile phone. OK, complicated :)
My passion:
Photography. Travel the exotic (Sudan, Cambodia, Thailand). Working with groups.
What can you get from me?
- an allround person with experience in design (logo, brands, web, DTP) writing and media communication
- A social networking "freak" with experience in working with all sorts of groups
- An open minded individual with a desire to do things differently and exotic
The FUTURE?
I would like to see myself as a network builder. Design is great and marketing is cool, but bringing people together is a joy.
