The power of networking

I'm finishing my study of English and Journalsim and am currently presiding the national students of journalism assosiation of Slovenia (www.fejs.si), member of an international network called FEJS or Forum for European Students. Also, if you know anybody who needs a fixer here in Ljubljana, I'd be more than glad to help.
I am still looking for ways how I could contribute to the society and find my own way, independed of politics, money, borders, language and time pressure. I like to think myself as a citizen of this world, and because of that I get restless at home.
I'm visiting the United States of America in june 2008. I'll stay there for 4 months on a Work-and-Travel experience programme. If you have any ideas what I should do and which places I should visit, I'd be more than glad if you let me know.
